SUMMARY:Where Does Israel Go From Here? Power to the People in a Fragile Democracy
DESCRIPTION:As of now\, the tenuous ceasefire continues as many IDF reservists return to their daily lives in Israel. Still\, uncertainty remains on so many fronts. Among the big questions: \nHow can Israelis preserve their democratic country–and is this possible given the ongoing judicial reforms? \nHow does a country scarred by the tragic conflicts within its own borders—still resonating throughout the world—move forward?  \nJoin us for a casual (pizza & salad) dinner and honest conversation as we explore these questions and more as a community. \nOur esteemed panel includes Jules Kramer\, former IDF paratrooper who designed high-level policy missions around the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; Brian Friedman\, economist\, portfolio manager\, and expert analyst of the Israeli financial markets; and Susan Greene\, investigative reporter and senior U.S. reporter from wartime Israel. \nDinner will be catered by Dough Counter–a Denver favorite! \n \n \nWith thanks to the Staenberg-Loup JCC \nFeatured photo credit: Atlantic / Gili Yaari / NurPhoto / AP

SUMMARY:Shufuni: Look at Me
DESCRIPTION:The Mizel Arts and Culture Center at the JCC is excited to bring you a special live performance by the Israeli musical touring artists\, Shufuni. This unforgettable event is presented in partnership with Moving to Our Center and the JCC Association of North America. \nFounded in 2022\, Shufuni began as a weekly\, open-mic concert featuring emerging artists in Sderot\, a Southern Israeli town famous for its music scene. However\, following October 7th and the subsequent loss of several band and audience member\, the group has taken a new direction. “How do we get the voices of civilians\, citizens\, and soldiers to our communities in North America and for them to understand what’s going on?” the group wondered. The result was the founding of Mitchabrim\, an initiative that connects Jews in the diaspora to Israeli culture and programming. \nThe current tour features four artists from the Gaza envelope who will be touring five JCC locations over nine days. The evening at the JCC Denver will include musical performances as well as personal stories shared by the artists. \nGet Tickets Here \n
